I Learned 14 Lessons about Ministry Last Week and Number 12 Meant the Most to Me

This past week Adam, Paul, and myself traveled to Savannah, Georgia to attend the Next Level Leadership Conference.  In the last session Cam Huxford spoke on what he has learned about church leadership over the course of a 40 year ministry.  His 12th point  is the one sticking with me the most.

His 12th lesson was to maintain and keep a Holy Discontent.   What he meant was never be content with your Christ likeness.  Always look for room how you can grow and become more like Jesus.

You may protest the Bible says we are to be content in all things.  Yes, and the context of those scriptures are about our worldly status and possessions.   When it comes to being like Jesus we are always called to grow more and more like him.  The Bible says, “Take on an entirely new way of life- a God-fashioned life. A life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.”  Ephesians 4:22 MSG

One of the motivations of to help you become like Christ is to maintain a Holy discontent of examining your life, asking God where you can improve, and then pursuing Jesus with all of your strength.
