I like this quote. I think it fits what we are about as a church.
This fall we will be going into the Life Giving Life Project. The purpose of this project is to take the life Jesus has given us so freely and give it to others.
We are going to see this purpose executed in two ways. One, on September 21st we will be going to two services. The second way we plan on seeing this purpose come to life is by doing 6 service projects in our community before Thanksgiving.
I really like Mr. Roosevelt’s quote because it really explains why we must do something now.
One day, as Christians we will stand in heaven and I believe on that day we will believe the worst thing we did on earth was nothing.
Many times when you go to two services we wonder if it will work. We wonder if it will be successful. We wonder if it will really reach out to more people. We wonder if volunteers will burn out. We wonder if just a few people will show up.
I agree with Theodore Roosevelt, what’s worse than failure? It’s doing nothing.
The problem with doing nothing is it produces nothing.
Jesus didn’t call his church to produce nothing which means we must do something and that’s doing something even if it is the wrong something.
You can’t give something away by doing nothing.
Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
I don’t know about you but the word “go” has little to do with “do nothing.” I am excited to be part of a church that will do something to answer the call of Jesus! The Life Giving Life Project is all about doing something to help people know the grace and calling of Jesus Christ on their life.
